"Isn't this too big?"
I am sure this is one item that no one will complain that it is too big. It is BIG indeed.

The ring is magnified in proportion to the light bulb that makes it a good source of lighting as well as a form of decoration. It may also be a good idea for proposal.
Besides being as a interior décor item, it might also look good at the display windows of jewelry shops.

PatrickTigranian - i think the crown is too long and narrow:) like the overall size of the ring though:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. I guess with some crystal like acrylic around the bulb will make it more diamond like...
ReplyDeleteNeat concept, but the direct glare from this fixture would be annoying (if not painful). I think the only way it could work is to have a faceted glass bowl over the lamp, and I would replace the bulb with an MR-11 or MR-16 so the light beam would project primarily upward.

To be honest, the lamp is the least resolved detail of the entire piece. If its to be a 'diamond ring' then surely the actual light source should look a bit more like a diamond. Maybe a beautiful piece of facetted glass with a good quality LED behind it??

Looks like a standard tungsten lamp though - not even a halogen version so not very energy efficient.

It doesn't need to be a solid piece of glass - it could be a blown bulb of some appropriate design. And it probably doesn't need to be glass! A acrylic diamond would be much lighter, of course - though probably too expensive.
Best of luck

Not a designer myself although agree with the comment that says the light should be more diamond like shape-wise. Would call it:
"Does my bling look big in this?"
